Improving the quality of education for municipal school children
In 2019, urban municipal schools were also added to the quality improvement program, benefitting more than 2,500 students across 5 municipal schools. The program design uses holistic development of students of age group 6 to 14 years. The project includes school readiness as the first steps to addressing learning lag and improving reading habits.
It trains young minds with learning techniques through activity-based learning, reading practice and library usage.
A unique component of mental health and development of leadership skills includes looking at the highly disturbed environment that the students have to face in the community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was moved to community centres close to their houses, reaching about 5,000 children across 8 densely populated Bastis of Mumbai.
